Ringing in the New Year at the Surf Ballroom
Well, we cannot describe what a huge honor it is to be asked for 4 years to perform at this iconic venue to welcome the new year in style! A full house awaited our Dueling Piano show as we took to the stage. To perform on a stage that has played host to so many of our musical heroes is truly a thrill.
Backstage in the dressing room, we found handwritten lyrics to American Pie written by the man himself, Don McLean! Not only is this one of our favorite songs to perform, but it also has special meaning at this venue. Of course, this is the actual stage upon which Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens played their final gig before the tragic events of February 3rd, 1959 – the day the music died.
Thank you to the amazing people of Clear Lake, Iowa for coming out and having a blast with our performers at these shows – we hope we can do it again soon!
